A keen rider when younger (that means I fell off a lot), and then a competitive rower whilst studying at Cambridge University (a very one-sided sport), I have always liked to keep fit and active but back pain seemed to follow me around.
I finally went to a Pilates class after much persuasion from my chiropractor. I had always hoped that the chiropractor or other professionals could ‘fix’ my pain for me; that it was not something I could do myself. Does that sound familiar?
Only when I took responsibility for my own body did I realise that it was up to me to fix myself by committing to a regular Pilates practice, and I have never looked back.
I am now thrilled to be offering live online classes so you are able to benefit wherever you live in the world, as well as an on demand video library full of 30 minute movement sessions to keep you moving well if you cannot make it to class.
My Pilates Journey
In 2009 I started my training with Body Control PilatesĀ®, the UK leaders in teacher training.
Their rigorous and comprehensive Pilates training requires over 250 hours of study, including the teaching of Pilates theory, anatomy and the development of practical teaching skills and client assessment.
I hold both the Body Control Pilates matwork certification and the Comprehensive Studio Certification meaning I am qualified to teach clients on a 1:1 basis on the Pilates Studio equipment: Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels.
I regularly attend workshops to continue to develop my professional skills which I consider to be the most important part of what I do. We never stop learning!
